The meeting of Voronin and Smirnov was a kind of brain-ring

The meeting of the presidents of Moldova Vladimir Voronin and Transniestria Igor Smirnov was like a brain-ring, but not like official negotiations of the heads of the states. It is the opinion of the director of the Transniestrian sociological information-analytical "S-centre" Dmitry Soin.
«There are some reasons for such a point of view. First, the meeting passed at the big confluence of journalists and this fact influenced the behavior, both Voronin and Smirnov. So, both presidents based the dialogue from the point "how it will look from the position of mass-media". That is why they used many informal phrases, mutual pricks and expressive gestures. Another reason that, both presidents long before this meeting understood its senseless, they understood that it will not make any breaks in the settlement of the conflict. For this purpose there was no precondition, neither political, nor economic. Year 2008 was the year of proceeding «cold war», the year when even elementary measures of trust have not been realized between Kishinev and Tiraspol . Therefore the stake in the negotiations was on the external scandalous effects to distract attention of the audience from its most maintenance and results. At the same time, it is impossible to call this meeting useless. So, during the confidentially conversation, presidents have managed to solve a number of important questions for simple citizens - first of all, free transition of people, mutual guarantees of safety, activization of work of expert groups and of course warranty of the peace forms of settlement of the conflict. Also the sides agreed to continue negotiations, but already roughly in March, 2009. This date is absolutely not casual. This is the date of elections of parliament in Moldova which will define political destiny of this country for the next 4 years. So that time we will know exactly with whom Igor Smirnov must negotiate.
