Religious icon-bearing procession in Tiraspol

Today the icon-bearing procession organized by Tiraspol and Dubossary Eparchy took place in the capital of our country. Town dwellers, representatives of Pridnestrovian parties and social organizations took part in its preparation and holding.
This event was dedicated to Slavic philosophers, philologists and religious ascetics Cyril and Methodius. The icon-bearing procession gathered several thousands participants and it can be considered the greatest one in the history of such religious, cultural and enlightening actions.
The procession was led by the archbishop Justinian among the Orthodox clergy. One of the most important moments of the procession is that representatives of Pridnestrovian political parties took part in this action. So, the activists of International Youth Corporation and People’s Democratic Party “PRORIV!” led by the chairman of the party Alexander Gorelovskiy were going in front of the column of social organizations. Sunny banners of the party matched yellow vestment of priests and it produced the sense of balance of the clergy and the world. The representatives of Russian Liberal and Democratic Party, the party “The People’s Will in Pridnestrovie”, “Lutichi” and the activists of Pridnestrovian Patriotic Party followed “PRORIV!”. For some obscure reasons such parties as “Obnovlenie”, Republican party and, of course, local communists ignored this procession, which is very important for all the Slavs. But the atheistic nature of their ideology can explain this fact.
The chairman of People’s Democratic Party “PRORIV!” Alexander Gorelovskiy said: ““PRORIV!” has always supported the unity of Slavic peoples and our participation in this icon-bearing procession is a kind of public expression of “PRORIV’s!” stand. In very difficult conditions of modern life, when the cult of violence, depravity and the ideology of consumption win the minds of people, we do not have any other way out, but to consolidate around ancient Slavic symbols, historic Slavic Cyrillic graphics and our original religion- Orthodoxy”.
