Democracy - YES! Bureaucracy - No!

English // 15:36, 7 февраля 2009 // 3160
“PRORIV!” and LDPR have spent a procession in support of democracy and freedom of speech! On February, 6 in Tiraspol activists of political parties for the first time in the history of republic held the procession in support of democracy, freedom of speech and civil society in Transniestria. The initiator of this procession was "PRORIV!". This most mass and independent youth association for already three years suffers information blockade. Both state television and private channel TSV block the actions of "PRORIV!". The other regional mass-media pursue the same policy. Although "PRORIV!" struggles from the moment of its creation for the international legal status of Transniestria, supports course on rapprochement with Russia, protests against double standards of separate international structures. As noted the chairman of People's Democratic Party Alexander Gorelovsky, our main problem that we are independent political movement and it is not pleasant to local officials who dream to rule a civil society as in old Soviet times.
The action of "PRORIV!" has been supported by another mass Prorussian party - LDPR Transniestria. Its activists joined the column and scanned «LDPR and "PRORIV!" Together», «Russia and Transniestria together», and other slogans. However these slogans were not the main things this day. Participants of procession loudly scanned «Democracy YES! Bureaucracy No!», that was new to the streets of Tiraspol. The reason to occurrence of such slogan was refusal of the city administration to held two previous actions of "PRORIV!", which were devoted to the problems of gas supply of the region and necessity of peace dialogue in Palestine.
Near the OSCE mission Dmitry Soin, Alexander Gorelovsky and Alena Arshinova - leaders of IYC-PDP "PRORIV!" discussed the destiny of democracy in Transniestria. It has been noticed, that as usually not even one local television channel including TSV, which is applying to be objective, did not dared to cover this action that calls into question the freedom of speech.
Procession and meeting have passed without excesses. The column all the way was followed by the traffic police car.
